RedGround Australia launches the official opening of truffle season this June Long Weekend

RedGround Australia will officially launch the 2026 winter truffle harvest with a fireside truffle tasting experience across the June Long Weekend in Oberon, New South Wales.

Held on Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June, the event celebrates the beginning of winter truffle season in one of Australia’s highest and coldest truffle-growing regions, where alpine conditions help produce intensely aromatic black truffles sought after by chefs and food lovers.

Guests will experience a relaxed afternoon of winter food, local wine and fresh truffles inside the RedGround Truffle Hunting Lodge overlooking the Oberon countryside.

The menu features a choice of slow-braised beef cheeks in rich truffle jus or a hearty mushroom ragù, both served over creamy truffle butter polenta. Fresh winter truffles will be showcased throughout the experience. Inside the lodge, guests can gather around crackling fireplaces while outside, the farm firepit burns against the backdrop of Oberon’s winter frosts.

Sessions will run from 12 pm to 5 pm across both days.

Tickets are $60 per person and include one main dish and one drink, with a choice of beer, wine or soft drink. Additional truffle tastings and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon.

Bookings are recommended. Drop-in guests are welcome, subject to availability.

RedGround Australia has become known for its luxury truffle farm experiences, supplying premium truffles to domestic and international high-end restaurants while also welcoming visitors to experience truffle hunting, tasting and agritourism firsthand.

Owners Jill and Neil O’Grady said the opening of the winter harvest is always one of the most exciting times on the farm.

“There’s something special about the beginning of truffle season,” Jill O’Grady said.

“The cold weather arrives, the dogs know it’s time to work again, and the aroma of the first winter truffles starts coming through the soil. It never gets old.”
