Every year, the Bathurst Historic Car Club hold a two-day event called the Gold Country Tour. The event brings people with Historic Vehicles from all over the state.
Just to clarify, a Historic Vehicle must be manufactured before 1996.
In other words, 30 or more years old. We had 79 Entries with around 161 people
The Entries started arriving at the Majellan Bowling Club from 8.00 am to register and pick up their Tour bags, supplied by the Bathurst Tourist Bureau, which also included the Tour Programmes for the 2 days. At 9.30 am, the cars headed off. A marshal with a directional arrow on every turn, which all the competitors love, so they do not get lost.
Arriving at Rockley Hall for a great morning tea supplied by the Rockley and District Community Association. And many thanks. The cars moved on to Newbridge via Trunkey Creek.
Arriving at Newbridge Show Ground, the Historic cars were lined up in ten-year age groups, starting with the 1920s through to the 1990s, with over 30 cars in the 1960s; we had two rows. Each car had a voting sheet on which they could vote for their choice in each of the decade categories: Motorbike, Ute, and King of the show. Then a lovely lunch was supplied
By the Newbridge Art Group Space. NAGS for short, with many thanks for a great lunch.
The Tour group spent some time around Newbridge, checking out the art galleries and the blacksmith.
That evening, we had a big dinner at the Bathurst RSL with a big thank you for such a great two-course meal. The entrants were asked to come dressed in the period of their car with prizes on offer. We had a guest speaker, Alan May, from Blayney, who started as a mechanic at Blayney Holden and eventually became the owner. After many years, he sold Blayney and moved to Ulladulla, started a Holden dealership, and, many years later, sold it and moved back to his hometown of Blayney. We also had many donated raffle prizes. Many thanks to all the donors who made the night a great success.
Trophies were presented to the winners based on the tallied votes.
Sunday 24th May entry vehicles on display at Majellan Bowling Club and at 9.00 am departed for a 1 hour tour through the countryside and a lap around Mt Panorama and back to the Bowling Club for our famous BIG morning tea and our lucky door prizes
This concluded our Gold Country Tour for 2026.
