A long-held dream has become a reality for Hayley Byrom, with the recent opening of Oberon Skin & Beauty in the heart of Oberon.
Located at 177B Oberon Street, the new studio represents years of dedication, training and hard work for Hayley, who first entered the beauty industry in 2008 and has steadily built her experience and reputation ever since.
After completing Certificate II, III and IV qualifications in Beauty Services at TAFE in Orange, followed by a Diploma in 2010, Hayley continued to advance her skills through specialised training and ongoing education, including certification in micro-needling and advanced skin treatments.
While her long-term goal had always been to create her own dedicated space, family became the priority in 2017 when she stepped back from the industry for a period of time.
Returning with renewed focus, Hayley launched “The Beauty Room” inside Oberon Pharmacy in 2024 with support from Jen and Allison. The business quickly gained momentum, with loyal clients, regular bookings and growing waitlists eventually creating the need for a larger, purpose-built studio.
That next chapter officially arrived in December 2025, with plans beginning for what is now Oberon Skin & Beauty.
“Having my own business and space has been a dream and focus since my formal training in 2008,” Hayley said.
“Creating a space where clients feel confident, supported, and truly cared for in these tough times has been one of my proudest achievements.”
The new salon has been carefully designed to create more than just a beauty appointment. Hayley and her husband spent six weeks renovating the space themselves, working day and night to transform the premises into what she describes as a calming retreat for clients.
From the moment people walk through the doors, the focus is on creating a welcoming experience that encourages relaxation and self-care. Clients are greeted by a custom signature candle created locally by Capertee Valley Soaps, calming music and Australian Native tea supplied by The Milbrey. Soft lighting and muted tones complete the atmosphere.
“My goal is for every client to feel relaxed, cared for and completely comfortable from the moment they arrive,” Hayley said.
“I want the salon to feel more than just a beauty salon. I want it to feel like a retreat where clients can unwind and recharge and leave feeling more confident and refreshed both inside and out.”
For Hayley, bringing the business to Oberon was also about ensuring regional communities have access to high-quality beauty and wellness services close to home.
“People in regional communities deserve access to professional beauty and wellness services without having to travel to larger cities,” she said.
“The most rewarding part of my career is being able to positively impact how someone feels about themselves — whether that is helping them feel confident in their skin, giving them time to relax or simply being someone they can talk to.”
Looking ahead, Hayley hopes to continue growing the business, expand treatment offerings and eventually build a team, while continuing further study in health science and advanced skin therapy.
