Bathurst’s new Kaleidoscope Festival was officially launched on the 19th August in the beautiful surrounds of Victoria Park, setting the scene for a major multicultural celebration later this year.
Bathurst Mayor Cr Robert Taylor said the festival would provide an important opportunity to celebrate the diversity of the Bathurst community and bring people together in a positive and welcoming environment.
The Kaleidoscope Festival will be held at Victoria Park on Saturday 7 November and is fully funded through the NSW Government’s Stronger Together Local Council Major Festival Grant program, administered by Multicultural NSW, meaning there is no cost to Bathurst Regional Council to stage the event.
The funding will enable Council to deliver a major community celebration featuring live music, cultural performances, food, workshops, market stalls and community activities.
The event is intended to become a celebration of the many cultures represented across Bathurst and the wider region, while also giving residents the chance to experience different music, food, traditions and creative practices.
Cr Taylor highlighted the value of events that encourage people from different cultural backgrounds to come together, share their traditions and strengthen connections across the community. The festival will aim to foster social cohesion and promote community harmony while showcasing the many cultures that contribute to life in the Bathurst region.
State Member for Bathurst Paul Toole MP also welcomed the festival and said he was pleased to support an event that celebrates the community’s cultural diversity.
Mr Toole said Victoria Park would provide an ideal location for the festival, allowing organisers to make full use of the park’s amenities, open spaces and attractive surrounds. Centrally located and accessible, Victoria Park provides a picturesque and welcoming setting, with established trees, open lawns and facilities well suited to community celebrations.
Organisers expect Kaleidoscope will attract people of all ages and backgrounds for a day of celebration, connection and community.
