The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro Project is now on public exhibition, with the community invited to review the plans and provide feedback until 28 April 2026.
Since opening on 31 March, the exhibition has marked an important stage in the project, giving residents, businesses and stakeholders the opportunity to examine detailed environmental and technical studies and better understand the proposed development, its impacts and mitigation measures.
The full EIS is available online via the NSW Planning Portal, as well as in hard copy at Project HQ in Lithgow, Lithgow City Council and local libraries in Lithgow, Portland and Wallerawang.
To support community engagement, the project team will be out and about across the Lithgow region throughout April, hosting a series of pop-up sessions and information stalls. These sessions are designed to make it easier for locals to ask questions, navigate the EIS and understand how to make a formal submission.
Upcoming opportunities to connect with the team include:
- Wednesday 8 April, 10 am–2 pm at Bowenfels Family Fun Day
- Thursday 9 April, 1 pm–5 pm at Gang Gang Markets, Lithgow
- Saturday 18 April (10 am–6 pm) and Sunday 19 April (10 am–4 pm) at Ironfest, The Foundations, Portland
- Thursday 23 April, 11 am–2 pm at Lithgow Valley Plaza
- Tuesday 28 April, 11:30 am–2 pm at Project HQ, Lithgow, for the EIS public exhibition wrap-up BBQ
These sessions build on earlier engagement, including a pop-up at Lithgow Valley Plaza on 1 April, and reflect ongoing efforts to ensure the community has access to clear, accessible information.
Formal submissions can be made through the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure’s Planning Portal during the exhibition period. Community feedback will play an important role in the assessment process.
With the exhibition window closing soon, residents are encouraged to take the time to review the documents and have their say.
