Spring into Art at Newbridge has been steadily building its musical presence and this year boasts a line-up of performers across the village and across the weekend.
Especially important to highlight are the performers who will be playing at the Newbridge Showground, the location of Newbridge Art Show, and also at the Olde Bridge Gallery in Trunkey St.
Saturday October 17 at the Newbridge Showground
- 10:00am: Adison Rimmer (vocals)
- 10:30am: Zach and Keelan Ruston-Walkom (guitar & vocals)
The Ruston-Walkoms are a talented musical duo made up of brothers Keelan and Zachary Ruston- Walkom. Known for their engaging performances, strong vocals, and genuine love of entertaining, they have become popular performers at hotels, breweries, festivals, community events, sporting functions, and private celebrations. - 11:00am: Harry Lawson (trumpet)
Harry Lawson is a talented Year 10 student and dedicated trumpeter who brings passion and energy to every performance. As a versatile musician, Harry lends his skills to a number of diverse bands, showcasing his impressive range and collaborative spirit. Beyond his regular ensemble commitments, he proudly volunteers his musical talents each year to perform at annual ANZAC Day services, honouring the community with his moving tributes. - 11:30am: Margaret McCusker-Roth (vocals)
Margaret McCusker-Roth is a talented Year 11 Music student at MKC and the Mitchell Conservatorium of Bathurst. A true multi-instrumentalist, Margaret performs on violin, trombone and drums, and lends her voice as a singer across a range of styles and settings. Her versatility and dedication shine through in her active involvement in the local music community, where she regularly performs with bands and contributes her talents to musical theatre productions. - 12:00: Bethany Carter-Sherlock (harp)
Bethany Carter-Sherlock is a well-regarded and accredited musician. She has many years of teaching experience in ensemble, classroom and studio contexts at Mitchell Conservatorium and in schools. She is a performer of harp, voice and piano. As a pedal harpist, Bethany has contributed to orchestras such as the Australian Doctors’ Orchestra and the Macquarie Philharmonia Orchestra and has delivered multiple solo performances around the region.
Saturday October 17 at the Olde Bridge Gallery
- 2:00pm : Jack and Hawk (guitar & vocals) – Jack and Hawk are musicians from Sydney’s North Shore and have been singing rock/indie covers songs together for a few years. They are looking to start playing live gigs.
Sunday October 18 at the Newbridge Showground
- 11:00am: John Moran (ambient synth)
John Moran has been a bass player since the sixties in London and then with The Session Men, plus his own projects in the experimental world of sound and sculpture. - 12:30pm: Katy Sharah (Chinese strings)
Originally from China, Katy Sharah now calls Carcoar home where she keeps a studio dedicated to ancient Eastern traditional arts. As a child, she learnt to play the Guqin, China’s oldest plucked string instrument. Its tone is quiet, distant and mellow, expressing inner feelings. In ancient times, it was believed that playing the Guqin cultivated the mind and conveyed moral principles. Its subtlety makes it a unique and elegant art of traditional Chinese culture. - 2:30pm: Bathurst Panorama Chorus
Closing out the art show once again are the soaring voices of the Bathurst Panorama Chorus, a women’s acapella group which performs contemporary ballads, Australian music and show tunes in four-part harmony.
The Newbridge Art Show entry is by kind donation, and all of these performances are free of charge to art show visitors. There are other live music events at The Gladstone Hotel and at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament.
