Great Walk Delivers Another Year of Community Support

The Great Walk Foundation has wrapped up its 19th annual fundraising walk, with participants completing the six-day journey from Bathurst, through Taran & Lithgow, then Blackheath and Hazelbrook, finishing up in Glenbrook between Sunday 5 July and Friday 10 July.

Along the way, walkers were supported by communities, volunteers and generous donors who helped make the annual event another success.

Reflecting on the walk, organisers thanked everyone who played a part.

“The Great Walk is done for another year. Thank you to so many who have supported the walkers this year. There has been a great sensation of energy from many directions that kept the feet lighter, and the distance seemed easier. Community support has been tangible and is always a strong motivation to overcome yesterday’s pain and stride into today. Our charity will be able to bring benefits to many we don’t know yet and make a better tomorrow for those who are always struggling with today. We as a team appreciate your generous support and encouragement for others.”

Funds raised through The Great Walk Foundation help support community organisations across the Penrith, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury regions, with numerous charities receiving grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 over the years.

The Foundation thanked its sponsors, volunteers and supporters for helping make the walk possible. Those wishing to make a tax-deductible donation can contact info@greatwalkfoundation.com.au for further information. The Great Walk Foundation is a registered charity.
