Celebrating the Women Who Lead the Land

Mudgee event marks the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Women making a difference in agriculture will take centre stage in Mudgee this November, with Watershed Landcare bringing together farmers, landholders and industry leaders for a special day of inspiration, innovation and connection.

Leading the Land, to be held on Saturday 28 November at Lowe Family Wine Co., will celebrate the International Year of the Woman Farmer, recognising the enormous contribution women make to Australia’s agricultural industries, rural businesses and regional communities.

Set amongst the picturesque vineyards of Lowe Wines, the event promises a wonderful opportunity to hear inspiring stories, explore practical ideas and connect with others who share a passion for the future of farming.

While the day will shine a spotlight on women in agriculture, everyone is welcome to attend, with organisers encouraging farmers, landholders, industry professionals and members of the wider community to get involved.

An impressive lineup of speakers will share their experiences and expertise across a range of topics, including regenerative agriculture, leadership, resilience, innovation and opportunities for value-adding in rural businesses.

Kennedy Porter will take on the role of MC, with guest speakers including Martha Lindstad, Anna Hughes, Dr Aurelie Quade and Kristin Hegarty.

Each will bring their own perspective to the conversation, offering insights into the challenges and opportunities facing modern agriculture, along with ideas that can be taken back to local farms and businesses.

Among the speakers, Dr Aurelie Quade, founder of Soil Resilience, brings extensive experience in soil science and plant pathology, with a focus on translating scientific research into practical solutions for farmers.

The event is particularly timely, with 2026 officially recognised by the United Nations as the International Year of the Woman Farmer, highlighting the vital role women play in food production, agricultural innovation and strengthening rural economies around the world.

Across the Mid-West region, women are already making significant contributions to agriculture, whether managing family farms, developing innovative businesses, supporting sustainable land management or taking on leadership roles within their communities.

Leading the Land provides an opportunity to recognise these contributions while encouraging the next generation of women to explore opportunities within the industry.

Of course, a day at Lowe Family Wine Co. wouldn’t be complete without some exceptional local food, with catering provided by the award-winning ZIN House.

Guests will have plenty of opportunities to connect throughout the day, with networking drinks to round out what promises to be a rewarding gathering.

With agriculture playing such an important role in the Mid-West region, this is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate achievements, share knowledge and build connections that extend well beyond the event itself.

Further speakers and program details will be announced shortly. Early Bird tickets are available now, with organisers encouraging those interested to secure their place.
