One of the Central West’s most anticipated winter events is set to return, with the Millthorpe Fire Fair once again transforming the historic village into a glowing celebration of food, music and community.
The award-winning village is preparing to welcome visitors from across the Central West when the annual Millthorpe Fire Fair returns on Friday, 7 August, marking the Opening Night of the Orange Region Fire Festival. Running from 5 pm to 9 pm, the event has become one of the region’s signature winter celebrations, bringing together local food, wine, entertainment and community in the heart of the historic village.
Organised by the Millthorpe Village committee, the Fire Fair showcases many of the things the Central West is known for. Visitors can browse market stalls featuring artisan producers and boutique businesses, enjoy food from local vendors, sample wines from regional wineries and take the opportunity to support a wide range of small businesses.
Live music will provide the soundtrack throughout the evening, while fire pits positioned around the village will offer places to gather with family and friends. Whether it’s enjoying dinner from a food truck, warming up with a hot chocolate or spending time around the fires, the event offers plenty of reasons to make a night of it.
Families are also well catered for, with children’s rides, games, face painting and acrobatic performers among the entertainment planned throughout the evening, ensuring there is something for every age group.
One of this year’s highlights is the return of the Fire Train, with the Lachlan Valley Railway operating a special service between Orange and Millthorpe. Passengers will arrive at Millthorpe Heritage Station before taking a short walk into the centre of the festival. Train tickets include entry to the Fire Fair, making them a convenient option for those who want to leave the car at home and enjoy the experience from start to finish.
Once inside the festival, visitors can explore Sideshow Alley, enjoy the live entertainment, settle beside the fire pits, or experience the popular snowfall display, which has become a favourite feature of the evening.
Tickets are now available: adult tickets are $15, family passes are $35, and children’s tickets remain $3. Head to Humantix: https://events.humanitix.com/millthorpe-fire-fair-friday-7-august-2026 to secure yours now.
