Putting the Q Back in Qristmas!

Christmas is getting a little queerer – and quite a lot funnier – with the region’s very first Queer Qristmas Comedy show bringing together queer folks, allies, chosen family and anyone who appreciates a good laugh.

Forget awkward Christmas small talk and pretending to enjoy Uncle Barry’s annual political rant. This festive celebration is all about connection, community, queer joy and comedy – with plenty of sass thrown in for good measure.

Headlining the night is Sydney-based comedian, writer and producer Chris McAllister, known as “The Trans Comedian”. With sharp observational humour, rapid-fire one-liners and heartfelt storytelling, Chris has performed at Sydney Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and MELT Festival, along with sold-out shows and tours across Australia, the UK and regional communities.

As the first transmasc comedian to tour regional Australia, Chris brings more than laughs to the stage, creating space for visibility, connection and a whole lot of queer joy.

Also heading regional – finally emerging from her cave after more than a decade, apparently – is Brandy Tsang.

After two sold-out shows at Sydney’s Factory Theatre this year, Brandy is taking her razor-dry wit on the road for the first time. Just how dry? Organisers suggest you may require sorbolene, wine and a healthy appreciation for questionable romantic decisions. Consider yourself warned.

Holding the whole thing together – or at least giving it a red-hot go – will be local rising comedy talent Ali Kim.

Described as a proudly ageing, menopausal lesbian with zero time for nonsense, Ali brings hot flashes, life chaos, wicked observations and unmistakably local humour to the MC role. Expect sass, side-eyes and someone willing to say exactly what everyone else in the room was thinking.

And if one night of festive fabulousness simply isn’t enough, visitors can make a getaway of it. Accommodation options include the family-friendly rustic bush camping So Camp!!! experience on Wiradjuri Country – check out link events.humanitix.com/so-camp, or for those whose idea of roughing it involves wine, cheese and a hot tub, Maya Sanctuary is also supporting the event. More info and to book, head to www.mayasanctuary.com.

So grab your friends, gather your chosen family and get ready to put the Q back in Qristmas.

Because festive cheer is better with punchlines. Head to https://events.humanitix.com/queer-qristmas-comedy now for your tickets!
