Lithgow’s First Volunteer Expo a Strong Success

The Lithgow community came together in a powerful show of connection and generosity at the inaugural Volunteer Expo, held at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Bringing together a diverse range of Volunteer Involving Organisations, the Expo created a vibrant space for community members to explore the many ways they can give back, connect, and make a difference locally.

Despite earlier uncertain weather, the day delivered sunshine and a steady stream of visitors who took the opportunity to meet with local organisations, learn about volunteering opportunities, and gain a deeper appreciation for the incredible work being carried out across the Lithgow region.

From community services and support groups to environmental initiatives and social organisations, the Expo highlighted the breadth and diversity of volunteering opportunities across the region.

With over 80 local volunteers showcasing their work and current opportunities, the event was a true testament to the power and impact of volunteering. Many attendees expressed strong interest in getting involved, with meaningful conversations and connections taking place throughout the day.

The event also benefited from its collaboration with the Lithgow Community Markets, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere for all ages. A free BBQ provided by RRT added to the sense of community spirit, encouraging people to stay, connect, and enjoy the day.

Organisers from Volunteer Connect Lithgow Region expressed their appreciation to all participating organisations, volunteers, and attendees who helped make the event a success.

“This Expo was about more than just volunteering, it was about strengthening community connections and showcasing the heart of Lithgow”.

Plans are already being considered for future events, with organisers keen to build on the strong foundation established this year and continue growing volunteering across the region.

For those who missed the event but are interested in volunteering, information and connections to local organisations are still available through the Volunteer Connect Lithgow Region website: vclr.com.au or by email lrvolunteerconnect@gmail.com
