Lithgow Welcomes World-Class Skin Cancer Screening on Wheels

Lithgow residents turned out in strong numbers this month as Westfund and the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation (ASCF) brought their mobile skin check clinic to the region for the first time.

Set up at Club Lithgow on Wednesday, 18 March, the clinic operated across three days, offering free, preventative skin checks to both Westfund members and the wider community. Equipped with cutting-edge 3D Vectra skin imaging technology, the initiative is designed to support early detection of skin cancer—particularly in regional areas where access to specialist care can be limited.

Visitors were invited to step inside the mobile clinic, meet ASCF nurses and members of the Westfund team, and experience the advanced imaging system firsthand. The response from the community was immediate, with all Westfund member appointments fully booked within an hour.

“We’re thrilled by the incredible response from the Lithgow community, with all Westfund member bookings filling within an hour,” said Westfund Chief Health Care Services Officer Liz Casmiri. “At Westfund, we believe where you live shouldn’t determine your health outcomes.”

ASCF CEO and Founder Jay Allen OAM reinforced the importance of the initiative. “Skin cancer doesn’t discriminate by postcode, and neither should life-saving healthcare,” he said.

The visit marked a meaningful step in delivering accessible, life-saving health services directly to regional communities.
