Exploring Strength and Fragility: Rhonda Magritzer’s Debut Exhibition Opens in Lithgow

Lithgow’s vibrant arts community will welcome an exciting new voice this autumn as local artist Rhonda Magritzer presents her debut solo exhibition, Freedom and Vulnerability, at the Union Theatre Gallery. Open daily from 10 am to 4 pm across selected dates, April 3–6, 10–12, 17–19, 24–27, and May 1–3, the exhibition marks a significant milestone in Magritzer’s creative journey and offers the community an opportunity to experience two compelling new bodies of work.

Freedom and Vulnerability explores the balance between strength and openness, boldness and fragility. Through colour, texture and innovative technique, Magritzer invites viewers into a personal yet relatable space where courage and creativity intersect.

The exhibition introduces the ANTJE SERIES, a vibrant collection of modern abstract mixed media works. Rich in colour and layered with reflective and dichroic elements, the pieces shift as light moves across their surfaces, creating an immersive experience that rewards close viewing. Energetic yet contemplative, the series captures a sense of liberation while acknowledging vulnerability.

In contrast, the WIRESIN SERIES offers a contemporary take on the centuries-old Cloisonné technique. Using fine wirework and richly pigmented resin, Magritzer creates intricate compositions that balance structure and fluidity, tradition and innovation.

Together, the two series showcase her willingness to experiment across mediums while maintaining a cohesive emotional thread. Art lovers, collectors and the wider community are warmly invited to attend this dynamic and thought-provoking exhibition.
