BATHURST COMBINED PROBUS CLUB CELEBRATES AUSTRALIA DAY WITH AN “AL FRESCO” BBQ BREAKFAST

By Lesley Worthington, President

Twenty-four of the Club’s members joined together on the morning of Sunday, 25 January, 2026, to eat breakfast and celebrate Australia Day, which fell on the following day.  The diners sat outside, in the cool of the early morning shade, with Australian flag bunting fluttering in the breeze above.  A large Australian flag and a green/gold Aussie flag, plus Australian flag themed napkins, completed the decorations for the event.

Keith Worthington was ably assisted on the BBQ by Harley Rustin and Dean Ward – thanks to both for their assistance.  An enjoyable breakfast of sausages, bacon, eggs, and tomatoes with toast and/or bread was washed down with juice or coffee, or both.  The group lingered post breakfast for chats amongst each other and with the Pearson’s little dog, Lady Haddie, and the Worthington’s granddaughter, who helped to entertain the crowd.  All in all, a very enjoyable way to start a Sunday.

Bathurst Combined Probus Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Panthers Club, Piper Street, Bathurst.  For further information regarding the Club, contact the Membership Officer by emailing members.bcpc@gmail.com.
