Blayney will mark Females in Football Week with a community-focused home game day at Napier Park on Saturday, 9 May, bringing together players, families and supporters to recognise the women and girls who help drive the local game.
Hosted by the Blayney Senior Women’s Football Club, the day will see both the Women’s Pink and Purple teams take to the field, creating a strong home game atmosphere while highlighting the contribution of females across all areas of football — from players and coaches to volunteers and supporters.
Organisers say the event is designed to be relaxed, inclusive and community-driven, with a range of activities planned both on and off the field. Visitors can enjoy coffee and ice cream from Swirl & Dip, browse a bake sale, and take part in a Mother’s Day raffle to be drawn on the day.
Younger attendees are also well catered for, with plaster painting activities and take-home packs available for purchase, while families are encouraged to capture the day at a dedicated Females in Football photo frame installation.
A key feature of the event will be the opportunity to nominate a local female involved in football who deserves recognition. Community members are invited to submit a name and a short reason why she is special, with a small prize to be awarded.
Females in Football merchandise will also be distributed throughout the day, adding to the sense of occasion and shared celebration.
The club says the event is ultimately about acknowledging the often behind-the-scenes efforts that keep grassroots football strong.
Under the banner “Her Game. Our Community.”, the day aims to shine a light on the people who make football possible in Blayney — and to ensure their contribution does not go unnoticed.
