Few places capture the beauty of spring quite like Rydal, and on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September the charming village will once again welcome visitors for the much-loved Daffodils at Rydal Festival.
As we recently featured in the Central West Village Voice, the festival’s spectacular open gardens and renowned Kimbri Art & Sculpture Show are set to return, offering the perfect excuse for a weekend escape to one of the region’s prettiest villages.
This year’s festival invites visitors to wander through nine beautifully presented village and country gardens, each offering its own unique character and inspiration. A single $10 ticket provides entry to every garden as well as the popular art show, with tickets available in the village or online via QR code before the event. Visitors will receive a handy map to guide them through the gardens and attractions.
Beyond the blooms, Rydal will come alive with artisan market stalls, delicious food, live music, plant sales and local makers showcasing their talents throughout the village and within several of the gardens. The picturesque village park, complete with its sculpture walk, colourful daffodil displays and picnic areas, provides the perfect place to relax between garden visits.
Adding to the atmosphere, a heritage train will arrive at Rydal Station at 11 am on Saturday, making the journey just as memorable as the destination.
With parking available at the showground, public amenities on site and dogs welcome on leads, the festival offers an easy and enjoyable day out for visitors of all ages.
Better still, every ticket purchased helps make a difference. Half of this year’s proceeds will support Lithgow charity Nanna’s Touch, with the remaining funds reinvested by the Rydal Village Association to continue preserving and beautifying this much-loved heritage village.
