Blayney MPS Stage One Complete: A Major Milestone for Local Health Care

Blayney celebrated a significant community milestone with the completion of Stage One of the Blayney Multipurpose Service (MPS) Redevelopment, marking the delivery of a modern, high-quality health facility designed to meet the evolving needs of local residents.

For a town that values strong, reliable health services, this development represented far more than bricks and mortar. It delivered real improvements for patients, families and health workers — and strengthened Blayney’s capacity to care for its community now and into the future.

Stage One included the construction of a new residential aged care wing featuring private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, providing dignity, comfort and privacy for local seniors. Additional inpatient beds and flexible chair-based treatment spaces expanded the range of services that could be delivered locally, reducing the need for residents to travel out of town for care. The redevelopment also incorporated facilities supporting palliative care and bariatric services, ensuring specialised care could be accessed closer to home.

The expansion created additional capacity for patients while also generating new employment opportunities for the region. It represented an important step in future-proofing Blayney’s health infrastructure and ensuring the community continued to receive high-quality, contemporary care.

Stage One of the Blayney MPS Redevelopment formed part of the former NSW Government’s $297 million Multipurpose Service Program, which delivered upgrades across rural and remote communities. Blayney was the final site completed under the program, placing the town firmly on the map for improved regional health investment.

Paul Toole, Member for Bathurst, who attended the event said “The project will bring high quality health and aged care services closer to home and ensure the Blayney MPS can continue to meet local health care needs for years to come,“

“The former NSW Government invested $297 million into Multipurpose Service redevelopments that would deliver improved access to health and aged care services for communities in rural and remote NSW including Blayney and it is fantastic to see this vision coming to life,” Mr Toole said.

To mark the milestone, the community was invited to attend an open afternoon at the Blayney MPS on Thursday, 22 January, where locals had the opportunity to tour the new facilities, meet health staff and project team members, and learn more about the next phase of the redevelopment.

The project was delivered by Taylor Australia, which was awarded the design finalisation and construction contract by Health Infrastructure. Built on the existing Osman Street site, the redevelopment ensured close proximity to other medical and aged care services, creating a centralised, one-stop health hub for the community.

The completed works delivered a purpose-built facility that supported emergency, ambulatory and HealthOne services, alongside the new aged care and inpatient units. The result was a seamless care environment designed to meet the growing health demands of Blayney and surrounding districts.

With Stage Two now underway, community consultation continued to play an important role in shaping the future of the Blayney MPS. As the town grew, the redevelopment ensured local health services grew with it — reinforcing Blayney’s commitment to caring for its residents, families and future generations.
