Spring is almost here, and Blayney is preparing to celebrate it in glorious colour with the Blayney Daffodil & Spring Flower Show on Saturday 12th September.
A wonderful fixture on the local calendar, the show will once again bring together passionate gardeners, seasoned exhibitors, enthusiastic novices and budding young green thumbs for a day that celebrates everything blooming beautifully across the region.
And while the daffodils might be the stars of the show, there will be plenty more vying for attention.
The extensive schedule includes daffodils across numerous divisions, along with hyacinths, camellias, tulips, pansies, violets, natives, flowering shrubs, pot plants, succulents and beautiful floral arrangements. There are dedicated Progressive and Novice Daffodil sections too, making this a show where you certainly don’t need decades of ribbons under your belt to have a go.
The floral arrangement section is open to all ages and abilities, with wonderfully spring-inspired classes including Daffodils in Focus, Spring Celebration and even an Ikebana arrangement.
And the kids haven’t been forgotten!
Young exhibitors can let their imaginations run wild with everything from daffodils in a bottle and mixed flower arrangements to a creature made from fruit or vegetables and a Magic Fairy Garden created inside a shoebox lid.
The event is proudly run by the Blayney Agricultural and Pastoral Association Inc., an organisation that has been part of the Blayney community since 1878. Like so many of our much-loved country shows and community events, days like this simply don’t happen without the committee members, stewards and volunteers who give their time, energy and plenty of behind-the-scenes hours to make them happen.
A huge thank you must go to the entire team for continuing to create opportunities for our community to come together, showcase local talent and keep these wonderful agricultural and horticultural traditions thriving.
Entries can be delivered from 2pm on Friday 11th September or from 7am Saturday morning, with all exhibits staged by 10am ready for judging.
The doors then open to the public at 12 noon, with trophies presented at 4pm.
So raid the garden, pick your best blooms and have a crack – or simply head along and admire what our local gardeners can produce.
After a long Central West winter, there could hardly be a brighter way to welcome spring!
