126th Oberon Show celebrates tradition, community and a big day out

The countdown is on for one of the Central West’s most loved community events, with the Oberon Show returning to the Oberon Showground on Saturday 14 February for its 126th year.

A cornerstone of the local calendar, the Oberon Show continues to blend proud agricultural tradition with all the fun and excitement of a classic country show. From early morning competitions to evening entertainment, it’s a full day designed to bring the whole community together.

Visitors can expect a strong line-up of traditional competitions including cattle, horses, prime lambs, yard dogs, poultry and birds, alongside much-loved pavilion sections such as cooking, wool, florals and floral art, photography, arts and crafts — and even a LEGO competition! Add in amusements, show bags and plenty of surprises, and there’s something for every age.

One of the major drawcards once again will be the renowned Quick Shear event, billed as the “World’s Richest Quick Shear,” offering an impressive $40,000 in cash and prizes. Nominations and entries will be taken on Show Day by 9.00am, with the competition starting at 10.00am. Entry fees are $50 for Open, $40 for Seniors, $30 for Intermediate and $25 for Novice competitors.

Oberon Show President Glen Stewart said the 2026 event was a proud milestone for the community. “As the President of the Oberon Show for 2026, I am thrilled to welcome you once again to this year’s event, now in our 126th year,” Mr Stewart said. “The Oberon Show is a celebration of our vibrant, diverse community and it would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of many incredible individuals.”

Mr Stewart extended heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, stewards, executive and committee members, as well as the many sponsors and supporters who help make the Show possible each year.

The day will conclude in spectacular fashion with a major entertainment program and fireworks display, rounding out a celebration of the heart and soul of Oberon.
