Outback Thunda Set to Roar into Bathurst for the Very First Time

Bathurst, get ready.

For the very first time, the legendary Outback Thunda will blast into the Bathurst Showgrounds when the Monster Truck Mayhem Thrills & Stunt Show takes over on Saturday 28 February 2026.

Let’s be clear — this is not associated with previous monster truck events held in our region. This is a brand-new production and the debut Bathurst appearance of Australia’s most recognised mega monster truck. If you’ve seen other shows before, this is something entirely different.

Gates open at 3pm, with the main program kicking off at 5pm, promising a heart-pounding evening of high-flying stunts, jaw-dropping action and full-throttle entertainment.

Outback Thunda is no ordinary truck. The bright yellow, horse-shaped giant — known affectionately as “the horse with attitude” and “Mr Altitude” — is powered by a 1300-horsepower, supercharged Big Block 454 Chevy engine. Built in Utah, USA, this three-seater monster truck rides on massive 66-inch tyres, runs on methanol fuel and drinks around 60 litres every four minutes. With a build cost exceeding $400,000, Thunda appears at more than 50 shows annually and is based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Behind the wheel is Clive Featherby, owner and driver for more than 25 years. With over 1,200 public monster truck performances across Australia and internationally — including the United States, UAE, New Zealand, Canada and even China — Clive is regarded as one of the most experienced drivers in the region. A true showman, he treats every performance as if it’s his first.

Gold Grandstand seating is $65 adults and $50 for children (2–14). General admission is $55 adults, $35 children or $170 for a family pass.
