Verto donation helps indigenous community

Not-for-profit organization VERTO has come to the aid of many people doing it tough during the COVID-19 pandemic, with important donations to the Bathurst Local Aboriginal Lands Council.

The organisation has contributed more than $1,000 worth of non-perishable items that have been distributed among local Indigenous community members over the past two weeks.

VERTO CEO Ron Maxwell said the donations were about giving back to some of the region’s most vulnerable during their time of need.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on many people and communities, and sadly, the most vulnerable in our local communities are often the most heavily impacted,” he said.

“VERTO prides itself on positively transforming the lives of individuals, families and our local communities, and we see this donation as yet another way we’re achieving this mission.”

Bathurst Local Aboriginal Lands Council CEO Toni-Lee Scott said she was grateful for VERTO’s support.

“In such difficult times, every little bit helps,” Ms Scott said.

“These donations make a big difference to hundreds of people in our local community, so they are always very welcome, but there are always more people who need our love and support.” For more information about how you can donate to those in need in Bathurst, phone the Bathurst Local Aboriginal Lands Council on 6332 6835
