Portland Golf Club has secured $15,000 in funding for extensions to the clubs maintenance shed through the NSW Government’s 2022 Community Building Partnership Program.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the State Government funds will deliver much-needed improvements to the local facility.
“This is fantastic news for the center which hosts many community groups and community events throughout the year,” Mr Toole said.
“The Portland Golf Club is a popular place for locals to gather and we want to keep it in the best shape possible.
“The extension will allow additional space for maintenance to be carried out on the mowers used for fairways, pathways, teas and areas of rough on the course.”
The extension will also allow for more efficient storage of the mowers.
In June 2021, Member for Bathurst Paul Toole delivered a grant for $90,000 for the purchase of a new improved fairway lawn mower.
Gary McDiarmid, resident mowing volunteer, said this has proved to have been excellent purchase and has made a massive difference to the golf course.
“The course is now in excellent condition thanks to the new mower,” Mr McDiarmid.
“The Portland Golf Club is very thankful to Paul Toole for his continuing support and the positive impact that he is making for the Club. It is hugely appreciated.”
The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 18,000 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
Applications for the 2023 Program open in May 2023.
