Oberon’s New Club is Open

A long-awaited new chapter has begun for Oberon Leagues Club, with Club Oberon officially opening at the Oberon Multi-Purpose Sports and Community Complex on O’Connell Road.

The new club celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, 12 September, introducing the community to an impressive new food and entertainment venue overlooking the grandstand, football fields and mountains beyond.

Secretary Manager Vanessa Booth said operating the new Club Oberon Bistro was an exciting opportunity, made possible after Oberon Council approved the club to manage the new clubhouse.

“Our new Bistro is beautiful. It has an amazing view over the grandstand and football fields, and beyond that you can see the mountains in the distance,” Vanessa said.

“At night, if Sydney has a storm, you can see the flashes of lightning in the distance. It looks fantastic.”

Supported by an enthusiastic team, Vanessa has created a welcoming menu filled with traditional bistro favourites.

The T-bone steaks have already proven popular, featuring locally raised Black Angus beef from Sunny Point Pastoral Company, supplied through Barker’s Butchery.

Other early favourites include the chicken topped with cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce, followed by the Bistro’s homemade sticky date pudding.

For Vanessa, finally opening the doors was the realisation of a long-held dream.

“It was a lot of hard work and many sleepless nights, but I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an asset for our community,” she said.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with visitors particularly impressed by the building and its outlook.

“Borg and Council have done a fantastic job, and I hope I can do both them and the community proud,” Vanessa said.

Club Oberon Bistro is open seven days a week, serving lunch from 12pm to 2pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8pm.

With good food, spectacular views and plenty of community spirit, Oberon’s newest gathering place is ready to welcome locals and visitors alike.
