Every town has its quiet corners – the streets, laneways and familiar views we pass every day, often without giving them a second thought. Sometimes, it takes an artist to remind us just how special those places can be.
That is exactly what artists David Isbester and Peter Larsen have done in their current exhibition at A Thousand Words Gallery in Carcoar.
Exploring the streets, laneways and surrounding landscapes of the historic village, David and Peter have captured Carcoar through a collection of works created en plein air – painting outdoors, directly within the landscape.
Their works offer a beautiful look at the character of Carcoar, celebrating not only its historic buildings and picturesque streetscapes, but those smaller, quieter moments that give the village its unique charm.
The exhibition continues until Sunday, 13 September, with A Thousand Words Gallery open Thursday to Sunday from 8.30am to 4pm.
And there is plenty more creativity to come.
Next on the gallery calendar is Stories Shared, opening Thursday, 17 September.
One of the highlights of the gallery’s year, Stories Shared is all about celebrating the people, memories and experiences that connect our community – and everyone is invited to be part of it.
Artists of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest, with works across painting, photography, sculpture, textiles and more welcomed. You certainly don’t need to be an experienced exhibitor – this is an opportunity for our region’s creativity and stories to be shared.
Expressions of Interest close on Sunday, 30 August, so now is the time to get involved.
The celebrations will continue on Saturday, 19 September, with a community gathering featuring live music and a sausage sizzle – a great opportunity to enjoy the exhibition, meet some of the artists and celebrate the creative talent found right across our region.
