Trail runners from across the region and beyond will descend on Portland this October Long Weekend when the Born to Run Festival returns to the spectacular grounds of The Foundations.
Held on Saturday 3 October, the popular trail running festival gives participants the rare opportunity to explore the trails within the historic former Portland Cement Works site, with four race distances catering for everyone from young runners and walkers through to experienced endurance athletes.
Participants can choose from the 2km Kids Race, 5km, 10km or Half Marathon, while those looking for the ultimate challenge can take on the title of “Trail Boss” by completing the Half Marathon, 10km and 5km events.
Each course combines runnable single track and access roads, taking competitors through some of the most picturesque and historic sections of The Foundations site before finishing near Portland’s famous silos.
Runners and walkers are both welcome, and every participant who crosses the finish line will receive a medal. Trophies will also be presented to leading male and female competitors across the events and age categories.
Numbers are capped at just 150 participants across all four races, with organisers encouraging people to register early after last year’s event sold out. Entries close on Wednesday 30 September unless capacity is reached earlier, and there will be no race-day registrations. Entry prices will also move into the Late Entry period from September 21.
