Sweet Success: Stage 5 Students Rise to the Occasion

Stage 5 Food Technology students have showcased their creativity and technical skills through a delicious assessment task focused on designing, baking and decorating cakes and cupcakes for special occasions.

The project challenged students to plan and create eye-catching celebration cakes while applying the practical skills they have developed throughout the course. From elegant cakes to colourful cupcakes, each creation reflected careful planning, attention to detail and plenty of imagination.

As part of the assessment, students explored the importance of food safety and hygiene and learned a range of cake-decorating techniques to achieve professional-looking finishes. The hands-on task encouraged students to combine creativity with precision, developing valuable skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

Technology and Applied Studies (TAS) teacher Laura Young said the assessment gave students the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice while expressing their individual flair through cake design.

“The students thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of designing, baking and decorating their own cakes and cupcakes. It was wonderful to see their creativity come to life while they demonstrated a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and cake decorating techniques,” she said via a recent Facebook post.

Congratulations to all Stage 5 Food Technology students on their outstanding efforts and impressive creations.
