Each year, the village of Newbridge welcomes visitors eager to embrace the magic of winter, and 2026 is shaping up to be no exception.
With a packed program of entertainment, markets, medieval displays and community activities, the Newbridge Winter Solstice Festival will once again shine a spotlight on one of the Central West’s most vibrant small communities when it returns across Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June.
Presented by the Newbridge Progress Association Inc, the festival begins on Friday evening with the popular Mediaeval Banquet. Set within a fire-lit, castle-inspired atmosphere, guests will enjoy a hearty feast while experiencing the sights, sounds and traditions of medieval times. The banquet has become a favourite feature of the festival and provides a memorable start to the weekend’s celebrations.
The main festival will take place throughout the village on Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm, with something on offer for visitors of all ages.
History lovers can explore the Viking Village and gain an insight into life centuries ago, while young festival-goers can test their skills at the Young Knights Training School. Thrilling jousting displays will take place throughout the day, alongside demonstrations from blacksmiths and other traditional craftspeople.
Visitors will also encounter a range of roaming performers, including wandering harp minstrels and a blade juggler, helping to create an atmosphere unlike any other at events in the region.
The streets of Newbridge will be lined with market stalls showcasing an array of products, handmade goods and unique treasures. Festival organisers are encouraging attendees to spend time exploring the village and supporting the many local businesses and stallholders involved in the event.
One of the day’s highlights will be the Costume Parade, scheduled for mid-afternoon. Festival-goers are invited to dress in their most imaginative medieval-inspired costumes and join the parade, creating a colourful spectacle that has become a much-loved tradition of the event.
Entertainment will continue throughout the day on Gladstone Green, with performances including belly dancers, Morris dancers, and a variety of other acts that add colour and energy to the festival atmosphere.
Beyond entertainment, the festival plays an important role in supporting Newbridge’s future. Coordinated by the Newbridge Progress Association, the event helps fund community projects and initiatives that contribute to the village’s ongoing development.
Tickets for the Mediaeval Banquet and further festival information are available via Humanitix. Whether you’re attending for the history, the markets, the entertainment or simply a great day out, the Newbridge Winter Solstice Festival promises a warm welcome and plenty of winter fun.
I think this version reads more like a fresh feature story and avoids repeating the “step back in time” angle you’ve used in previous coverage.
