The Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway is inviting locals and visitors alike to step back in time and experience a unique piece of the region’s history, with a series of open days and a special winter dining event planned for 2026.
The heritage railway precinct in North Street, Oberon, will open its gates on Sunday, June 7 and again on Sunday, October 4, welcoming visitors from 10 am to 4 pm.
The open days provide a wonderful opportunity to explore the historic railway precinct, including the rolling stock shed and station facilities, while learning more about the important role rail played in the development of the Oberon district.
Visitors can also enjoy guided tours of the precinct, offering fascinating insights into the preservation work being undertaken by dedicated volunteers and the stories behind the railway’s heritage collection.
Adding to the experience, morning teas and light lunches will be available inside the heritage carriage at the station, allowing guests to relax and soak up the atmosphere of a bygone era.

For those looking for an even more memorable railway experience, the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway will also host The Winter Lunch on Saturday, July 25.
Beginning at 12 noon, guests will be seated aboard the heritage dining carriage for a sumptuous four-course lunch complete with all the trimmings.
The event includes wine, beer and other beverages and promises an afternoon of fine food, warm hospitality and a unique heritage setting.
With seating limited, bookings are essential. Tables accommodate two people and must be booked as a pair, making the event ideal for couples, friends or anyone seeking a special mid-winter outing.
