A strong crowd turned out in Millthorpe for the official opening of Textures of One, a vibrant exhibition celebrating the depth and diversity of the region’s creative talent.
This year’s theme was “Nowhere/Somewhere” and drew some diverse interpretations in many forms of art.
Coordinated by Platform Arts Hub, the exhibition showcases an impressive mix of painting, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media, highlighting the strength of Blayney Shire’s arts and cultural community.
From emerging artists to award-winning creatives, the quality of work on display is exceptional. Visitors were treated to a wide range of styles and interpretations, reinforcing the Central West’s reputation as a hub for artistic expression.
Set within the historic Millthorpe School of Arts, the exhibition has transformed the much-loved heritage space into a dynamic gallery environment, with each room offering something new to discover.
Among the highlights of the opening was the announcement of the 2026 award winners. Frances Jeffery received the inaugural Millthorpe Creative Arts Supporting Local Artist Award for her work ‘Beyond the Reeds’, a piece inspired by the mystery and possibility found in landscapes partially hidden from view.
Mary Ann Mein was awarded the Blayney Shire Council Acquisitive Award for ‘Beyond Tuena’, capturing the sweeping beauty of the hills west of Tuena and the quiet power of the region’s natural landscape.
Both works reflect a deep connection to place, a theme that resonates strongly throughout the exhibition.
Textures of One will remain on display at the Millthorpe School of Arts Hall until May 10, open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Visitors are encouraged to take the time to experience this thoughtful and high-quality showcase of local creativity.
