A Celebration of Spring Awaits at Daffodils at Rydal

As winter begins to fade and the first signs of spring emerge, one of the Central West’s most picturesque villages is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors for a weekend celebrating flowers, art, gardens and community spirit.

Returning on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, Daffodils at Rydal has become a much-loved tradition, inviting visitors to slow down, breathe in the fresh country air and experience the beauty of one of the region’s most charming heritage villages in full bloom.

Each year, the festival raises valuable funds that are shared equally between a local charity and the continued upkeep and beautification of Rydal, ensuring the event continues to benefit both the wider community and the village that proudly hosts it.

Visitors can spend the day wandering through magnificent spring gardens bursting with colourful daffodils, discovering sculptures nestled throughout the village and exploring an impressive collection of local art. This year’s admission also includes entry to the Art & Sculpture Show at Kimbri Farm, located at 1920 Hampton Road. Set amongst one of the festival’s feature gardens, the exhibition will showcase painting, drawing, photography and sculpture from talented local artists, with a $2,000 prize pool highlighting the quality of work on display. Festival organisers are also inviting artists and sculptors to be part of this year’s exhibition, with entry forms available via www.rydal.com.au. Visitors are encouraged to take their time exploring both the gardens and the exhibition, celebrating the creativity that thrives throughout the Central West.

Beyond the gardens, the village will delight garden-lovers with artisan market stalls, a popular pop-up Country Shop, live music, coffee vans and delicious food options. Greg Featherstone Park will host sandwiches, light refreshments and a community barbecue, while picnic areas at Greg Featherstone Park, Pioneers Park, Rydal Cottage and Kimbri provide the perfect places to relax and soak up the atmosphere.

One of the great features of the festival is its hop-on, hop-off bus service, included in the $10 admission price. Operating throughout the weekend, the bus will loop between the Showground parking area and all participating gardens, making it easy for visitors to enjoy the festival at their own pace. Those who prefer can simply stroll through the village, taking in the heritage streetscape and enjoying the Heritage Walk along the way.

To help keep the village safe and congestion to a minimum, visitors are encouraged to use the free parking at the Rydal Showground in Market Street, with additional parking available at Karingal and Kimbri farms. Festival maps and wristbands can be collected from the Railway Station on arrival.

Organisers also remind visitors that internet reception throughout the village can be patchy, so bringing cash is recommended, although EFTPOS will be available for ticket purchases and at the discretion of individual stallholders. Dogs are welcome provided they remain on a leash, and visitors are asked to respect private property by seeking permission before entering gardens.

Whether you’re a passionate gardener, an art lover, a keen photographer or simply looking for a memorable spring day out, Daffodils at Rydal offers something for everyone. It’s a celebration of community, creativity and the changing seasons, and a wonderful reminder of everything that makes the Central West such a special place to call home.
