The Millthorpe School of Arts will again host one of the region’s much-anticipated creative showcases, with the Textures of One Art Prize and Exhibition set to run from April 25 to May 10.
Now in its 2026 instalment, the exhibition adopts the theme Nowhere / Somewhere: Landscapes real and imagined, inviting artists to explore the concept of place in all its forms. From physical locations to emotional and conceptual spaces, the theme encourages reflection on where we feel anchored, where we drift, and how we define a sense of belonging.
The open brief allows for a wide interpretation, with works spanning painting, sculpture, textiles, photography and digital art. Organisers say the theme offers both emerging and established artists an opportunity to respond through personal experience, abstract ideas or reflections on the landscapes that shape their lives.
The official opening and winner announcement will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, April 24, ahead of the exhibition opening to the public the following day. The gallery will then be open on Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm throughout the exhibition period.
A $1,000 Blayney Shire Council Acquisitive Prize headlines the awards, alongside a $250 Loretta Kervin Encouragement Award recognising first-time entrants.
Building on the strong community response seen in previous years, Textures of One continues to highlight the depth of artistic talent across the Central West while drawing visitors to Millthorpe’s historic village setting.
With its accessible theme and broad range of media, the 2026 exhibition is expected to once again offer a diverse and thoughtful collection, encouraging viewers to consider not just where they are but what “place” means to them.
