Community members across Lithgow are being encouraged to get involved, connect, and give back through a series of upcoming Volunteer Workshops at Lithgow Library.
Hosted by Volunteer Connect Lithgow Region, the workshops are designed to support both individuals interested in volunteering and local organisations seeking to strengthen their volunteer programs. With sessions running across May and June, the initiative aims to make it easier than ever for people to find meaningful ways to contribute to their community.
The workshops will cover a range of practical topics, including how to get started as a volunteer, what types of roles are available locally, and how organisations can list opportunities and connect with volunteers through the Volunteer Connect platform.
Organisers say the sessions are intentionally flexible and welcoming. “Each workshop is repeated, so people only need to attend one, but they’re welcome to come along as often as they like,” a spokesperson said. “It’s about building confidence, sharing knowledge, and creating stronger connections across our region.”
Two session streams are available:
- Volunteer Workshops (9:30am – 10:30am), ideal for individuals exploring volunteering
- Volunteer Involving Organisation Workshops (10:45am – 11:45am), tailored for groups and community organisations
All sessions will be held on:
- Saturday 9 May
- Saturday 23 May
- Saturday 13 June
- Saturday 27 June

With volunteering playing a vital role in supporting local services, events, and community wellbeing, organisers hope the workshops will inspire more residents to step forward.
“Volunteering doesn’t just help others, it builds friendships, skills, and a stronger sense of belonging,” they said. “There’s something for everyone.”
People interested in attending can register or find out more by contacting Volunteer Connect Lithgow Region on 0419 469 230, emailing lrvolunteerconnect@gmail.com, or visiting www.vclr.com.au. You can simply turn up on the day – morning tea will be provided.
Whether you’re looking to lend a hand or grow your organisation’s impact, these workshops offer a valuable opportunity to get involved and make a difference.
