Finding Healing Through Creativity with eXpressative H’Art

For Callie Andrews, creativity is about much more than making art – it’s about helping people find connection, confidence and a safe place to express themselves.

As the founder of eXpressative H’Art, Callie brings more than 25 years of experience working across disability support, mental health, youth services, alcohol and other drug recovery, and community services. A qualified Art Therapist with a Master’s degree in Art Therapy, she is professionally registered with ANZACATA and provides person-centred, trauma-informed support to self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, as well as private clients.

Based in the Central West, Callie works with people throughout Lithgow, the Blue Mountains, Bathurst and surrounding communities, offering both in-person and online art therapy sessions.

She believes there is no single pathway to healing and that creativity can be a powerful tool for people of all ages and abilities.

“People often think they need to be artistic to benefit from art therapy, but that’s simply not the case,” Callie said.

“It’s about the process, not creating a masterpiece. Through creativity, people can explore emotions, build confidence, develop self-awareness and work towards personal goals in a way that feels meaningful to them.”

Online sessions have also become an important part of the service, giving people the opportunity to access therapeutic support from the comfort and familiarity of home. Participants are encouraged to work with whatever creative materials they already have, making sessions both accessible and flexible.

Alongside her therapeutic work, Callie is passionate about building inclusive community projects that encourage connection, belonging and acceptance across the region.

As a proud trans woman, community worker, and advocate, she hopes eXpressative H’Art continues to provide a welcoming space where people feel supported in exploring their own creative journey.
