Cruising for a Cause Returns to the Road

Engines will fire up and community spirit will be on full display this weekend as the 8th Annual Country Cruisin’ for CanAssist rolls out from Bathurst to Portland.

Set for Sunday 26 April, the popular fundraiser will again bring together car enthusiasts, families and supporters for a day that blends horsepower with heart, all in support of Can Assist Bathurst.

Participants will gather from 9am at the Spotlight carpark on Pat O’Leary Drive, before departing at 10am for a relaxed cruise through to The Foundations on Williwa Street. Once in Portland, the event continues with food, a Show and Shine display, raffles and auctions, offering plenty for both entrants and spectators to enjoy.

Entry is simple: a $20 sticker is available for purchase on the day, with all proceeds going directly to support local families facing cancer. The message behind the event remains clear and direct, “Cancer sucks – they need our bucks”, a reminder of the very real impact the fundraiser continues to have across the region.

Country Cruisin’ for CanAssist was established in 2019 by the James family in memory of Ashley James, and has grown steadily into a much-anticipated date on the local calendar.

Organisers are encouraging locals to spread the word, gather their friends and cruising buddies, and be part of a day that makes a difference. Further event details can be found via Facebook by searching “Country Cruisin For Can-Assist Bathurst”.

With strong community backing and a shared purpose, Sunday’s cruise is set to once again deliver both a memorable day out and vital support where it is needed most.
