Probus was founded in Australia in 1976 and has since grown in a network of social clubs that bring people together through shared interests and regular activities. Today, Probus has over 90,000 members across 1,300 clubs in Australia.
To mark the anniversary, Bathurst Combined Probus Club recently held a celebratory morning tea at the Club’s general meeting in February, 2026. A large slab cake, showcasing Probus’ 50th anniversary logo on top, was cut by one of the Club’s Foundation Members and two of its most recently joined members. The delicious cake was then served as morning tea. The cake table was flanked by 50th anniversary balloons, while the 50th anniversary logo was projected onto the wall behind the cake table.
“Probus is about friendship and staying connected,” said Lesley Worthington, President of Bathurst Combined Probus Club. “Our Club provides a welcoming space where retired and semi-retired people can meet new friends, stay active and enjoy being part of their community.”
Bathurst Combined Probus Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Panthers Club, Piper Street, Bathurst. For further information regarding the Club, contact the Membership Officer by emailing members.bcpc@gmail.com.
