The picturesque village of Rockley is preparing to welcome visitors from across the Central West for its annual Gardens & Art Festival on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, offering a wonderful opportunity to explore one of the region’s most charming historic villages.
Just 30 minutes south of Bathurst, Rockley is a beautiful destination at any time of year, but the festival provides an extra reason to make the trip, with nine stunning cold-climate gardens opening their gates to the public over the weekend.
From established country gardens to beautifully maintained private spaces, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy spring colour, gather gardening inspiration and appreciate the hard work that goes into creating these special spaces.
Art lovers will also be well catered for, with a professionally curated exhibition at the historic School of Arts Hall on Hill Street. The exhibition will feature works across a range of mediums, including painting, ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery and photography, showcasing the creativity of local and invited artists.
There will also be live music in Rockley’s historic church, wine tastings from local vineyards, artisan market stalls, plant sales and plenty of delicious food and refreshments to enjoy throughout the weekend.
Families are encouraged to come along, with a village scavenger hunt offering some extra fun for younger visitors.
The festival is a fantastic excuse to gather some friends, enjoy a leisurely drive through the countryside and spend a day exploring somewhere a little different. Events like these also provide a wonderful opportunity to support small communities and the volunteers, artists and local businesses who make them so special.
The Rockley Gardens & Art Festival runs from 10am to 4pm both days, with tickets just $15, providing access to all participating gardens and art exhibitions.
