Lithgow High School welcomed local business owners, employers, training organisations and community representatives to its annual Business Breakfast on Thursday, May 21, providing an opportunity to recognise the valuable partnerships helping prepare students for future careers.
The breakfast served as a thank-you to the many businesses that had supported students through work-experience placements and career development opportunities over the past year. Principal Foty Loupos acknowledged the important contribution local employers continue to make in helping students gain valuable workplace experience and insights into future career pathways.
Attendees heard about the significant role the business community plays in helping young people develop practical skills, build confidence and make informed decisions about life after school. The school recognised that these opportunities would not be possible without the ongoing support of businesses and organisations across the Lithgow region.
A key focus of the morning was planning for the school’s upcoming work experience program, which aims to place approximately 130 Year 10 students in workplaces throughout August. Discussions highlighted the continued need for businesses willing to host students and provide meaningful industry experiences.
The breakfast also provided an opportunity for employers, training organisations and community leaders to connect and discuss ways of supporting local young people as they transition from school into employment, apprenticeships, traineeships and further education.
Attendees learned more about the school’s annual Careers Expo, which brings together employers, training providers and educational institutions to showcase the many pathways available after school.
The event reinforced the strong partnership between Lithgow High School and the local business community, with both committed to creating opportunities for students and helping develop a skilled workforce for the future. The morning highlighted the power of collaboration to support the next generation and strengthen the region’s economic future.
