A special afternoon of friendship, connection and giving back was held in Blayney recently, with funds raised helping to provide something many of us take for granted every day.
Inner Wheel hosted the fundraising event at the Blayney Shire Community Centre on Tuesday, 22 September, in support of Operation Toilets Australia.
The Rotary-backed project builds toilets in schools in disadvantaged communities across India, Nepal and Ethiopia, with a particular focus on helping adolescent girls remain at school and complete their secondary education.
Access to safe, private toilet facilities can make an enormous difference for young women, providing the dignity and privacy they need to continue attending school throughout their teenage years.
The Blayney fundraiser provided a wonderful opportunity for locals to enjoy an afternoon together while supporting a practical project making a very real difference to the lives and education of girls overseas.
Inner Wheel Australia is part of a global network bringing women together through friendship, service and shared values. Members are passionate about creating positive change, both within their own communities and further afield, through hands-on service projects and charitable initiatives.
Just as importantly, Inner Wheel provides an opportunity for women to build meaningful friendships and connections while working together towards a common purpose.
The afternoon at the Blayney Shire Community Centre was another great example of a local community coming together to support a cause that reaches well beyond our own region.
Through events such as this, funds raised can help provide safe and private facilities for young women, giving them greater opportunity to remain in school, continue their education and build brighter futures.
It was a lovely afternoon with a very worthwhile purpose – bringing people together locally while helping to make a difference for young women on the other side of the world.
