An exciting afternoon of fashion, fun, food and fundraising is coming to Lithgow, with local Girl Guides set to benefit from a special event designed to support their future adventures and development.
The Lithgow Girl Guides Fundraiser will be held at Blue Fox, bringing together local businesses, boutiques and guests for a four-hour celebration filled with delicious food, quality beverages, entertainment and plenty of prizes.
Girl Guides gives young women opportunities to build confidence, resilience and practical life skills, while forming friendships and discovering their potential through adventure and new experiences.
Funds raised will help the Lithgow Guides achieve some important goals, including providing full uniforms for existing Guides, supporting an annual trip where the girls can hone their skills and strengthen friendships, and purchasing much-needed equipment.
The district is also hoping to install a large on-site storage shed for camping equipment, replace some ageing tents and purchase larger two-person tents so the girls can buddy up and enjoy their camping adventures together.
Guests will be welcomed with a fresh quality cocktail or mocktail on arrival, followed by an afternoon featuring an extensive beverage selection, including superb regional wines.
The menu will cater for special dietary requirements and include grazing platters, Foxy petit fours, seasonal fruit and crudités with dips.
The Guides themselves will be part of the entertainment, demonstrating some of the skills they have learned. Guests can also test their own abilities in a knot-untying competition — with a twist! Contestants will attempt to unravel knots to reveal a prize while wearing gardening gloves. Not as easy as it sounds!
Local boutiques will take to the floor with a fashion parade, followed by Fashions on the Field and a Best Dressed prize, voted for by the Girl Guides.
Support from local business owners has already been outstanding, with many generously donating vouchers that allow winners to choose their own products or services. The initiative encourages winners to shop locally while giving participating businesses an opportunity to showcase what they do best — a win-win for everyone involved.
The fundraiser is proudly supported by Something Beautiful Remains Funeral Services, with the focus firmly on creating opportunities for young women in Lithgow to learn, grow and experience new adventures.
Tickets are $50 and will be available next week.
