Oberon is set to welcome some of Australia’s finest musicians this spring, with the fourth Oberon Chamber Music Festival offering a wonderful weekend of music in some of the region’s most beautiful venues.
Born from the revival of the historic Malachi Gilmore Hall and the presence of nationally recognised classical musicians in the Oberon area, the festival also draws inspiration from the much-loved Kowmung Music Festival, held in and around Oberon during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
This year’s festival will feature six concerts across three beautiful and very different Oberon venues – Malachi Gilmore Hall, St Barnabas Church and the stunning stone chapel at Mayfield Garden.
Artistic Director Emma Jardine said the festival was delighted to welcome an outstanding line-up of musicians in 2026.
Returning performers include superstar mezzo-soprano Ashlyn Tymms, French harpist and Principal Harp of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Louisic Dulbecco, and cellist Paul Ghica.
Award-winning Australian guitarist Karin Schaupp will make her first festival appearance, alongside festival debuts from highly regarded string players Julian Smiles, Dimity Hall and James Wannan, and leading pianist Ying Ho.
“Chamber music is about listening… to the musicians around you, to the space you’re in, and to what is happening in the moment,” Emma said.
“That close connection between performers and audience is what makes chamber music so special, and it’s at the heart of this festival.”
