An important question faces our community: How do we keep Portland’s memories alive?
The Glen Museum is at a crucial turning point. For many years it has been sustained by a very small group of dedicated volunteers. That cannot continue indefinitely.
We as a community need to decide what role the Museum should play in Portland’s future? It comes down to one question: Does Portland want a Museum?
Our Museum is more than a building or a collection of objects. It is the custodian of the memories, stories and lives of the people who built Portland — preserving the experiences, struggles, achievements and everyday lives of those who came before us so they are not forgotten. Their stories deserve to be remembered.
This meeting is not simply about maintaining a museum. It is about deciding, as a community, what role the Glen Museum should play in our future, what we value enough to preserve, and how we pass those memories to future generations.
