Portland Central School has been recognised with the 2026 Outstanding School Achievement Award at the Public Education Foundation Awards, celebrating five years of sustained improvement and a strong commitment to student success.
The award acknowledges significant growth in student achievement, the development of innovative learning opportunities and the school’s expanding vocational and industry pathways.
Principal Matt Quirk said the honour also recognised the supportive and ambitious culture established throughout the school.
“We are incredibly proud to announce that Portland Central School has been recognised with the 2026 Outstanding School Achievement Award,” Mr Quirk said.
He said the school remained committed to ensuring every student was “known, valued and challenged to achieve their best”.
“It is recognition of the culture of high support and high expectations that has been built across our school,” he said.
The achievement reflects the combined efforts of teachers, support staff, students and families, as well as community and industry partners who have helped create opportunities for young people in Portland.
Mr Quirk thanked everyone who had contributed to the school’s progress during the past five years.
“Thank you to our staff, students, families and community partners who have been part of this journey,” he said.
“This recognition belongs to our entire school community, and we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.”
The award is a significant milestone for Portland Central School and recognises its continuing work to improve educational outcomes, broaden pathways and support students to pursue their goals, both at school and beyond it.
