The Burraga Agricultural Bureau is inviting the community to experience one of the Central Tablelands’ most cherished rural traditions when the 66th Annual Burraga Sheep Show & Country Fair returns on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
This year’s event marks the final year of the traditional Burraga Sheep Show format, celebrating more than six decades of agricultural history before the event continues into the future as the Burraga Country Fair, ensuring this much-loved community event continues to evolve while preserving its rich heritage.
For generations, the Burraga Agricultural Bureau has been at the heart of community life, supporting local agriculture, sharing knowledge with landholders, working alongside organisations such as Local Land Services, and bringing people together through education, community activities and rural traditions. Entirely volunteer-run, the Bureau continues to provide valuable information to local farmers and residents while creating opportunities for people of all ages to connect and celebrate country life.
This year’s event promises to be bigger than ever, with something for everyone.
Visitors can enjoy the traditional Sheep and Wool Competitions, working Yard Dog Trials, the ever-popular Dog High Jump, extensive Pavilion Exhibits featuring cooking, preserves, baking, photography, art, craft, horticulture and floral displays, as well as junior competitions encouraging young people to showcase their talents.
One exciting new addition for 2026 is the Burraga Beaut Ute Competition.
Whether your pride and joy is a polished show ute, a hardworking farm ute, a serious four-wheel drive or a well-loved “feral” ute, organisers are encouraging everyone to get involved. There are ten fun categories, including Cleanest Ute, Best Farm Ute, Best Blokes Ute, Best Chicks Ute, Best 4×4, Most Stickers, Most Flags, Best Local Ute, Furthest Travelled Ute and Best Feral Ute.
Entries are just $5 per category, with judging commencing at 1.00 pm on the day.
The entertainment doesn’t stop there.
Families can enjoy a Mechanical Bull, Classic Car Display, Whip Cracking Demonstrations, children’s activities including a Jumping Castle, market stalls, local produce, community displays and plenty of attractions throughout the day.
Food will be plentiful, with a range of food vendors attending alongside the Burraga Agricultural Bureau’s traditional barbecue, while local stallholders will offer a variety of products, gifts and country merchandise.
As the sun goes down, visitors are encouraged to stay on and enjoy live music, creating a relaxed country atmosphere and rounding out what promises to be a fantastic community day.
Co-President Helen Hayden said the committee has worked tirelessly to ensure this year’s event celebrates Burraga’s proud agricultural history while introducing new attractions to appeal to families and younger generations.
“This year’s event is particularly significant as we celebrate the final traditional Burraga Sheep Show before the event evolves into the Burraga Country Fair. We’re incredibly proud of our volunteers, sponsors and community who continue to support this wonderful event, and we invite everyone to come along and help us make this year’s show one to remember.”
Secretary Michelle Williams said the Bureau welcomed exhibitors, competitors, sponsors and visitors from across the region.
“Whether you’re entering livestock, competing in the pavilion, bringing your ute, displaying a classic vehicle, or simply enjoying a great country day out, there’s something for everyone. We’d love to see families, friends and visitors join us in Burraga on 29 August.”
