Tea and Talks returns to T.Arts on Saturday, July 11, with an afternoon of art, storytelling and conversation featuring respected local artist and illustrator Jock Alexander.
Many will recognise Jock from his years as an illustrator and cartoonist with Fairfax newspapers. Since settling in Bathurst, he has built a strong reputation for artwork inspired by the region’s distinctive landscapes, native flora and both its Indigenous and colonial history.
Over the past decade, Jock has developed a unique artistic practice using watercolour, eucalyptus gum ink, raw earth pigments and handmade reed pens collected from local creeks and rivers. Working with these natural materials allows him to create pieces that are deeply connected to the Central West and its environment.
Guests will have the opportunity to view Jock’s work while hearing about his artistic journey, the inspiration behind his paintings and the techniques that have shaped his distinctive style.
The Tea and Talks series continues to showcase talented artists and creatives in a relaxed, welcoming setting, giving visitors the chance to gain a deeper appreciation of the people and stories behind the artwork.
The event will be held at the T.Arts Gallery, 75 Keppel Street, Bathurst, from 2.30 pm on Saturday, July 11. Guests will also enjoy a delicious afternoon tea as part of the experience.
Tickets are $25 per person and can be paid for online via Humantix: https://events.humanitix.com/july-tea-and-talks-with-jock-alexander or at the gallery. Bookings are essential, so be sure to secure your place for what promises to be an engaging afternoon celebrating art, creativity and the unique landscape of our region.
