Arts OutWest, in partnership with NSW Health Infrastructure, is seeking a visual artist to run a 7-week workshop program for aged care residents living at the Blayney Multi-Purpose Service (MPS).
To apply, artists must be living and working in the Blayney Shire local government area or living in the Central West with a strong connection to Blayney.
This is part of a program integrating art into the newly redeveloped aged care facility at Blayney MPS. Along with this residency, there will be three weeks of music, songwriting, and installation of Aboriginal art.
“This is a unique opportunity for a regional artist to develop a body of work in collaboration with residents that is both socially engaged and responsive to the residents’ stories, histories, and creative voices,” said Arts OutWest Arts & Health Coordinator Steven Cavanagh.
“Working within this environment offers a meaningful opportunity to foster connection and wellbeing through creative expression, honour personal histories and lived experiences, and create a collaborative and inclusive art-making space,” Mr Cavanagh said.
The Visual Arts Residency will run for 2 hours each week over 7 weeks, starting in June 2026.
At the end of the 7 weeks, some of the works made with the residents will be framed and hung on the walls.
The selected artist will receive a residency payment of $500 per week plus superannuation. Experience delivering workshops with aged care or dementia patients is desirable but not essential.
