Careers Fair Delivers Real-World Insight for La Salle Students

La Salle Academy’s 2026 Careers Fair has wrapped up as a standout morning of energy, curiosity and genuine connection, with students stepping confidently into conversations about their future.

Held on Wednesday, April 22, the event brought together a diverse mix of local businesses, organisations and industry representatives, all volunteering their time to help students explore life beyond the classroom. And explore they did.

With students pre-selecting the careers they were most interested in, the format kept things moving at a brisk pace. Short, sharp 15-minute sessions saw small groups rotate through a series of Q&A discussions, giving them direct access to professionals across a wide range of fields. No fluff, no fillers — just real conversations about real jobs.

By the end of the fourth session, the room had well and truly warmed up, with students confidently asking thoughtful and, at times, surprisingly tough questions. The fifth session flowed into an open-format opportunity, allowing students to revisit exhibitors and dig deeper into the industries that sparked their interest.

A highlight of the morning was the effort made by Year 10 students, many of whom arrived dressed for job interviews — a simple but powerful touch that added to the professionalism of the day and reflected the seriousness with which they approached the experience.

The formal program concluded with a relaxed morning tea in Bishop Dougherty Hall, where conversations continued, and connections were strengthened between students and industry guests.

From this Regional Publication owner, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of the day. The students were engaged, curious and well prepared, asking thoughtful questions and showing a genuine interest in what each presenter had to offer. It’s a credit to the school and its teachers, and a strong reminder that our future workforce is already stepping up.
