A thoughtful new exhibition is set to open its doors in Carcoar, inviting visitors to slow down and experience art in a more deliberate and meaningful way.
Adagio, presented at A Thousand Words Gallery from Thursday, 2 April through to Sunday, 31 May, is a carefully curated exhibition created in collaboration with Handa Opera Millthorpe. Open Thursday to Sunday from 8.30 am to 4 pm, the exhibition celebrates artistic excellence through restraint, precision and quiet confidence.
Drawing inspiration from the musical term “adagio”, meaning “to slow down”, the exhibition encourages audiences to pause, reflect, and engage more deeply with each work. Rather than bold spectacle, the collection focuses on balance, presence and refined execution, offering a more intimate and contemplative gallery experience.
Featuring a strong line-up of highly regarded Australian artists, including Julianne Allcorn, Paul McCarthy, BKKU, Jane Tonks, Joel Tonks, Ruth Stone, Maria Shaw, Rebecca Dowling, Rebecca Price and Jo Fernandez, Adagio brings together a diverse yet cohesive body of contemporary work. Each artist contributes a unique perspective, united by technical mastery and a deep commitment to their craft.
The collaboration with Handa Opera Millthorpe further elevates the exhibition, creating a dialogue between visual art and opera, two disciplines grounded in discipline, emotion and enduring quality.
Located at 11 Icely Street, Carcoar, Adagio is a welcome addition to the region’s cultural calendar and offers locals and visitors alike the opportunity to experience art that rewards time, attention and reflection.
