The Royal Bathurst Show will return to the Bathurst Showground from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 May, bringing with it a long-standing celebration of agriculture, community and regional life.
Presented by the Bathurst Agricultural, Horticultural & Pastoral Association, the annual event continues a tradition dating back to 1858, with its foundations grounded in the promotion of agricultural, horticultural and pastoral excellence across western New South Wales.
For more than 160 years, the show has evolved alongside the region, but its purpose has remained consistent — to showcase the strength of rural industries while providing a space for the community to come together. Agriculture has shaped the Central West for generations, and the show remains a visible reflection of that history and ongoing contribution.
Across the three-day program, visitors can expect a mix of livestock judging, equestrian events, pavilion exhibits and a range of family-friendly entertainment. From home produce and arts displays through to traditional competitions and main arena attractions, the show offers a broad cross-section of what defines regional life.
Importantly, organisers are keen to reinforce the event’s accessibility, particularly for families. Family passes are available for groups of four or five, with children aged six and under admitted free. Once through the gate, there is a strong emphasis on value, with a wide range of exhibitions and entertainment included in the entry.
Show Secretary Brett Kenworthy said the focus this year is on ensuring visitors can make a full day — or weekend — of their time at the show.
“We really want families and the greater community to know that there are hours of wandering once you’ve arrived at this year’s show,” he said. “Exhibitions and entertainment will fill the weekend without needing to spend any further.”
Beyond the entertainment, the show continues to play an important role in supporting and promoting local producers, exhibitors and volunteers. As a charitable, community-based organisation, the Association remains committed to strengthening rural life and encouraging participation across all sectors of the community.
The Royal Bathurst Show is also a significant driver for the local economy, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond, and reinforcing Bathurst’s position as a key hub for agricultural events.
With its combination of tradition, competition and community spirit, the show remains a cornerstone of the Central West calendar.
