Local businesses, community groups and not-for-profit organisations across the region are being encouraged to take advantage of two key funding programs now open through Blayney Shire Council, designed to strengthen tourism, support grassroots initiatives and boost community-led projects.
The Tourism Development Program is currently accepting applications, with the second and final round for the 2025/26 financial year closing on 4 February 2026. The program provides targeted support to help grow the visitor economy by assisting with event delivery, marketing projects and the creation of new tourist attractions across the Shire.
Funding is available for both not-for-profit organisations and local businesses, with individual applications capped at $1,000, and joint applications or incorporated associations representing a town, village or industry eligible for up to $2,000. Council has allocated $10,000 to the program for the 2025/26 financial year, with applications assessed across two funding rounds. Successful applicants from the current round can expect outcomes to be announced in late February.
The program aims to encourage collaboration, innovation and fresh ideas that showcase Blayney Shire as a destination, while supporting local operators and community groups working to attract visitors and extend economic benefits throughout the region.
At the same time, applications are also open for the Community Financial Assistance Program, offering a broader range of support for local organisations and individuals delivering projects that benefit the wider community. The closing date for this round is 27 February 2026, with applications submitted before 20 February reviewed early to allow applicants the opportunity to correct any errors or omissions.
Three funding categories are available under this program. Recurrent financial assistance supports ongoing operational activities, while non-recurrent financial assistance provides up to $5,000, with higher amounts considered in exceptional cases for one-off projects or specific initiatives. For larger-scale community initiatives, the Flagship Annual Community Project category offers funding of up to $25,000 to support major projects with broad community impact.
Applicants are required to review the program guidelines and complete the official application forms as part of the process. Council has also confirmed that requests for financial support, whether cash or in-kind, will not be considered outside of the formal Community Financial Assistance Program.
Both funding programs represent a valuable opportunity for local organisations, businesses and community leaders to bring new ideas to life, strengthen local services and deliver projects that benefit residents and visitors alike.
