Local Heavy Music artist Dave Webb prepares to launch EP

The last few years have been tough for all in the music industry with gigs disappearing overnight amid COVID shutdowns, and then a very tentative return to live music.

Dave Webb, who originally called Lithgow home but now hails from Bathurst put that time to very good use, launching a YouTube channel, and spending time recording a long-time project that actually began with some early bandmates over 15 years ago.

Dave’s new EP – A second to surface – is named after a band he was in over a decade ago, which is where some of the tracks began coming together, but with all that experience under his belt and countless hours of practice the virtuoso musician is finally at a point in his career where he had the time, skill and resources to do the songs justice.

Dave has been a regular on the local scene with his duo Momentum, who also have a full album of originals, but one listen to this EP leaves you in no doubt that Dave is all metal at heart.

The EP is all Dave, playing all instruments, singing and producing the tracks, and it was over 5 years of work to put it all together, so for it to finally be able to played on stage with a band is long overdue for Dave.

Getting gigs is hard at the best of times, but being a metal guy in a country town has made it a little harder for this new project, but with some cracking gigs in Sydney under their belt, Dave’s newly formed band of former Pilot bandmate drummer Todd Brownlow and Kaitlyn Baker on bass, are ready to bring these songs to a local audience.

Dave started playing guitar as a teenager, but has really put the practice in over the past 5 years to hone his skills and any fan of technical heavy music will be a an instant fan of the Dave Webb Project.

“Now that the EP is done, I am keen to get out with the band and gig so people can hear this music!  We just want to get on the road and meet new bands to make connections and then see where it takes us,” said Dave.

The EP Launch is taking place at Keystone on 26 August from 6:30pm, tickets are available at https://www.keystone1889.com/event-details/the-dave-webb-project-ep-launch
